PJs - Pepeha Journeys
Details
Hours: 9am to 6pm
A Pepeha tells of our cultural heritage and our connection to the natural world" It's a form of introduction and is unique to a personal identity
PJ’s founder, Luke Rikiti began his pepeha journey in 2007, when he returned to his tribal lands of Ngāti Pikiao, in the confederation of Arawa tribes in the Bay of Plenty, Rotorua.
In October 2018, Luke was at a crossroads in his career and at that point in time a strand of harakeke or flax was handed to Luke by a master weaver in the Māori village of Te Whakarewarewa, this strand inspired Luke to forge a new path.
5 years on, (and after a pivot or two) Luke and the team are proud to bring you Pepeha Journeys! Or PJs as we call it!
We are delighted to share with you Māori culture and history in a genuine and authentic way while taking you through our world.
We have a range of experiences that will allow you to connect to the Māori culture, your way. Our experiences are based in and around the Māori pepeha. A pepeha contains a mountain, river and lake and spiritual home ground as well as one's tribal connections.
Our team look forward to hosting you.
Nga manakitanga. Travel safe.
